It was their last day together. Steph’s final thoughts weren’t on saying goodbye to her friends and family, but rather, they were more focused on where she would be hours from now. As the goodbyes and farewells droned on, she was picturing the golden beaches and crisp, open air. She hadn’t felt the need to do anything other than frown occasionally, laugh, and nod—when entirely appropriate, of course. She acknowledged that, at least. Her husband did the talking. Years passed before someone entered the house again.
It had once been a beautiful house that overlooked the beach. Looking out of the large glass windows found primarily in the back of the house, one could see the golden sands and soft aqua blues of the ocean’s shimmering waves. The exterior color of the house itself had been a dull wooden pattern, cheaply made to look akin to an authentic log cabin. Side stairs led down to the beach itself, intertwining with the hillside. It was a fair looking house.

As he sat in the corner, enveloped in complete and utter obscurity, he curled into the fetal position and cried. “Don’t let me die, Lord, oh Lord, please don’t let me die...” he virtually chanted, praying to his God for his life, “Save me, oh Lord—Oh God!”
Thump. “Please—someone save me!” Thump. “I don’t want to die!!” Thump. “I DON’T WANT TO DIE!!!”
